Fantasy Football Storylines: Caleb Williams, DJ Moore, Bijan Robinson (Week 6)

With Week 5 in the rearview mirror, the focus is now squarely on Week 6. There's never a shortage of storylines in the busy NFL, but some stand out more than others this week. A rookie quarterback, a team returning from its bye and a running back who fell short of his first-round draft status are this week's most intriguing storylines.

Fantasy football storylines

Can Chicago's passing attack maintain momentum in a thrilling matchup in Week 6?

It's been an up-and-down rookie season for Caleb Williams, which isn't surprising for a rookie signal-caller. Nonetheless, he had his best game of the season, destroying the Panthers with just one sack, 304 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, zero interceptions and 34 rushing yards. It was Williams' second 300-yard passing attempt in the last three weeks, with a disappointing 157 passing yards in between.

The Bears play in London on Sunday morning and Williams has a Charmin-Soft matchup. According to Pro Football Reference, the Jaguars have allowed the most fantasy points per game (23.1) to quarterbacks this season. Jacksonville has amassed 298.8 passing yards per game, 2.0 passing touchdowns per game and 23.4 rushing yards per game for quarterbacks. Williams is a top-12 fantasy quarterback this week.

DJ Moore is the biggest beneficiary of Williams playing better. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Moore has led the Bears in routes (114), targets (23), receptions (16), receiving yards (205) and touchdown receptions (three) since Week 3.

Cole Kmet tied for the team lead with 16 receptions during that period. Kmet was also third in routes (89), third in targets (18), second in receiving yards (188) and ranked second in receiving touchdowns (one).

This week, Rome Odunze is also a viable fantasy option for players dealing with byes and injuries. He failed to record six receptions, 112 yards and a touchdown in Week 3, but he had his second-best performance of the year in Week 5 when he secured five receptions for 40 yards on six targets. Unfortunately, Keenan Allen has been completely ineffective this season and is not a fantasy option.

Will the Eagles get back on track after a bye?

The departure came at an ideal time for the Eagles last week. They were without AJ Brown from Week 2 to Week 4, and DeVonta Smith and Lane Johnson were absent in Week 4. They will probably all return this week.

Week 1 was the only week of the season that the offense was fully healthy, and they racked up 410 total yards of offense and 34 points on a slippery field against the Packers in Brazil. The Eagles were only able to put up 15 and 16 points in Week 3 against the Saints and in Week 4 against the Buccaneers, respectively.

However, Philadelphia's unimpressive scoring performance against the Saints was a bit misleading. They also had a season-high 460 yards on offense. Players should be optimistic about Philadelphia's prospects this week.

When Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, Brown and Smith were healthy in Week 1, they each had outstanding performances. Hurts passed for 278 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while adding 33 yards on the ground. Barkley paced the Packers with 109 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, two receptions, 23 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. Brown managed five receptions on 10 targets for 119 receiving yards and a touchdown. Ultimately, Smith had eight targets, seven receptions and 84 scoreless yards.

Dallas Goedert had a modest four balls for 31 scoreless yards on five scores against the Packers. However, according to PFF, his 30 routes were the third-most for the Eagles, followed by 39 for Brown and Smith. Goedert is still a fantasy starter, even as target competition increases.

Is it finally a great week for Atlanta's leading running back?

Bijan Robinson hasn't come close to living up to his draft position. He has scored just one touchdown this year and has had fewer than 80 scrimmage yards in three straight games. Tyler Allgeier hasn't disappeared either.

Still, Robinson managed 67 of the 100 runs (67%) in Atlanta's backfield and ran 116 routes, compared to 38 for Allgeier. Thus, Robinson's role is fantasy-friendly. Unfortunately, Robinson averaged just 57.0 rushing yards per game, 3.6 receiving yards per game, and 30.2 receiving yards per game with a touchdown.

He's on the right track after Atlanta's mini-bye. Since the Falcons played on Thursday night in Week 5, they have a few extra days of rest before facing Carolina's poor defense. The Panthers have the third-most rushing yards per game (120.6), most rushing touchdowns per game (1.80), 4.0 receiving yards per game, 35.2 receiving yards per game and 0.20 receiving this season Touchdowns allowed per game to running backs. Finally, the Falcons are the 6.0-point favorite, and the total game score this week is 47.5 points. Players should not sell Robinson short ahead of his breakout this weekend.
