Fernando Tatis Jr sends Padres fans into a frenzy with a long 2-run home run; San Diego wins Game 3

The matchup between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series heated up on Tuesday night when Fernando Tatis Jr. got the crowd excited with a home run and a long stare.

Tatis was at bat with a runner on base in the second inning when he fired one off Walker Buehler deep into left field. Tatis watched it fly over the fence and threw his bat as the crowd at Petco Park exploded.

It was the outfielder's fourth home run of the postseason and third of the series. From there, San Diego took a 6-1 lead but gave up four runs in the third inning.

Neither team would score again, and the Padres defeated the Dodgers 6-5 to take a 2-1 lead.

“I feel like I’m taking it to another level; my mindset, my body. Everything is going through the roof,” Tatis said after the game.

Padres manager Mike Shildt said Tatis enjoyed the crowd's reaction.

“He’s one of the many guys on our team who values ​​and appreciates bright lights and embraces them. He just wants to play and perform,” Shildt said.

With his home run, Tatis is just shy of tying the NLDS record of four home runs with Carlos Beltran, who hit it with the Houston Astros in 2004, and Nick Castellanos, who hit it with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2023.

“When I hit him I just passed out and started screaming at my dugout. Energy went through the roof,” Tatis added.

Mookie Betts was 2-for-4 and hit a home run in the first inning to put the Dodgers on the field. Teoscar Hernandez hit a grand slam in the third inning.
