Finebaum: Kalen DeBoer appears weak and passive in the face of the “humiliating” incident with Malachi Moore

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer defended defensive lineman Malachi Moore on Monday.

All Paul Finebaum heard was word salad.

DeBoer said his team captain would not be suspended after the defensive captain pushed Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia at the end of a play, threw away his mouthguard, kicked the football to draw an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and apparently refused to leave the field to leave when Bray took over Hubbard tried to fill in for him.

“I was shocked by Kalen DeBoer's passive approach after the game,” Finebaum said Monday on “The Paul Finebaum Show.” “That was humiliating. Be a football coach. Don't be a shrinking violet. This is what you looked like. You look weak.”

The SEC Network analyst is the first to point out that Moore is a good guy. Moore has since apologized for his actions in a statement. But Alabama's first-year coach is only making matters worse.

“Just shut up,” Finebaum later said on his DeBoer show. “Stop explaining. This guy won't be nominated for Citizen of the Year. He is already considered a top player. We understand it.

“How many word salads would DeBoer weave? What is he afraid of? Show leadership qualities. Get angry. Act like you really care that one of your players did something humiliating.”
