Former Iron Maiden frontman has died aged 66

Paul Di'Anno, former lead singer of English heavy metal band Iron Maiden, has died. He was 66 years old.

Di'Anno died on Monday, October 21, at his home in Salisbury, England, the musician's record label, Conquest Music, said on Facebook.

Although no official cause of death was given, Di'Anno “suffered from serious health problems in recent years,” according to the label.

“Paul continued to entertain his fans around the world, performing well over 100 shows as of 2023,” Conquest wrote. “Conquest Music is proud to have Paul Di'Anno as part of our artistic family and asks his fans to raise a glass to him.”

Di'Anno was born Paul Andrews on May 17, 1958 in Chingford, East London, and rose to fame as the lead singer of Iron Maiden from 1978 to 1981.

He sang on the band's debut album “Iron Maiden” and second album “Killers”. Di'Anno pursued a solo career, releasing several projects and performing in bands such as Gogmagog, Killers, Rockfellas and most recently Warhorse.

In response to Di'Anno's death, Iron Maiden released a statement saying the singer's influence “was immense and helped us chart the path we have traveled as a band for nearly five decades.”

“His groundbreaking presence as a frontman and vocalist, both on stage and on our first two albums, will be fondly remembered not only by us, but also by fans around the world,” the band continued. “On behalf of the band, Rod and Andy and the entire Iron Maiden team, we extend our deepest condolences to Paul’s family and close friends.”

According to The Independent, Di'Anno has been married five times and has six children.
