Former NFL star Jay Cutler arrested for drunk driving and weapons possession in Tennessee

Former NFL star quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested on drunken driving and other charges after a traffic accident in Tennessee on Thursday night, police said.

Cutler was charged with DUI, first offense, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, implied consent and possession of a handgun under the influence in the incident, Franklin police said in a news release.

He was booked into the Williamson County Jail and released on $5,000 bail.

Police said Cutler was arrested following an investigation into a minor traffic accident. Police said an investigation revealed the former Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins star struck another vehicle from behind. The investigating officers then noticed a “strong smell of alcohol” coming from him, the officers said.

Cutler allegedly slurred his speech and refused a field sobriety test. According to police, Cutler was found with two firearms in his vehicle, including a loaded handgun.

Fox News Digital reached out to Cutler for comment through his lifestyle brand Outsider but did not receive comment at the time of publication.

The former Pro Bowler played twelve seasons in the NFL from 2006 to 2017. During his career, he had 35,133 passing yards and 227 passing touchdowns.

He married Kristin Cavallari in 2013, but the two divorced in 2022.
