Former Sixers coach and No. 1 pick Doug Collins was inducted into the Hall of Fame

On Sunday evening, the Philadelphia 76ers added another great piece of their history to the Hall of Fame. Doug Collins, whom Philadelphia selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 1973 NBA Draft, has officially been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Collins spent his entire eight-year playing career with the Sixers, was named an All-Star four times and posted career averages of 17.9 points and 3.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds. He struggled with injuries throughout his playing career, but Collins fought through it and managed to produce a few highlights on the floor.

Collins then became a coach in the NBA, earning a career coaching record of 442-407 with the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards and Sixers. He led Philadelphia to surprising playoff appearances in 2011 and 2012. The Sixers, as a No. 8 seed, were one win away from the Eastern Conference finals in 2012.

Collins is a huge part of Philadelphia basketball history. He made his mark on the Sixers and the NBA as a whole by coaching Michael Jordan and the Bulls before passing on to Phil Jackson, and he coached Jordan again in his final two seasons in the NBA with the Wizards.
