Fox analyst Joel Klatt accuses ESPN of having a terrible take on Ohio State

In case you missed it, Ohio State more than took care of business against a very good Iowa defensive ballclub, pulling away in the second period to take a 35-7 win, improving its record to 5-0 on the season.

By all accounts and standards, it was an impressive performance, as Iowa's only touchdown came at a bad time when many of OSU's starters on defense were on the pine.

But don't tell that to ESPN's David Hale.

No, rather, the “World Leader” couldn't help but offer a little criticism of the Buckeyes as he wrote a summary of Ohio State's performance on Saturday. OSU beat writer Jeremy Birmingham criticized the strange reaction to the Shoe performance, and he wasn't the only one.

Fox analyst Joel Klatt picked up on what ESPN wrote about the Buckeyes and more than agreed with the slanted view of OSU's so-called deficiencies against Iowa.

So what exactly did ESPN write about Ohio State's dominant win?

“Had little trouble beating Iowa 35-7. Still, it had to feel like a loss for the Buckeyes, who are the first team to allow points to Iowa's offense since Michigan gave up two touchdowns in a win over the Hawkeyes in Week 5 of 2022.”

What?

See Birmingham and Klatt's answer below, which seems quite justified.

Keep in mind that ESPN wasn't part of the Big Ten's new television deal, and you have to wonder if there's an agenda being pushed. I'm not a fan of conspiracy theories, but I have to admit that this is a pretty poor interpretation of Ohio State, and I have a hard time believing the same thing would be written for Alabama or Georgia, for example.

I think we also have to remember that Klatt calls games for Fox, which is part of the deal with the Big Ten, but even so, there seems to be a shift in the way ESPN presents things.

It all feels a little like CNN and the Democratic Party vs. Fox News and the Republican Party.

Well, all Ohio State has to do is keep winning and then everything will take care of itself. At least we think so.
