Fulham player praised for overcoming injury worries and getting back into form – He needed time to 'get back to his best'

Raúl Jiménez has impressed for Fulham this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in nine games.

The striker also impressed for Mexico, scoring a goal and providing an assist in their 2-0 friendly win over the USA earlier this week.

Former Mexican striker Jared Borgetti is pleased to see the player impressing for Fulham and the national team. During a conversation with TUDN transmitted by Águilas Monumental, he praised the 33-year-old.

Jiménez suffered a fractured skull while playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers in November 2020. He spent the next two years struggling with injuries and his form deteriorating, costing him a place in the national team.

However, that didn't stop Fulham from signing him in July 2023. The Mexico international scored seven goals in all competitions last season and has impressed for Marco Silva's side this season.

Jiménez's performances for Fulham helped him return to the Mexico squad this month for the first time since November 2023. Borgetti is pleased that the frontman's injury worries have now been overcome.

“I like him because he is gradually getting over this injury and I think it was important to have continuity so that he could forget about this situation and concentrate on doing his best on the pitch.” he said.

Borgetti, who represented Mexico between 1997 and 2008, said it was normal that his compatriot “needed time to get back to his best.” He has urged Mexico coach Javier Aguirre to take advantage of Jiménez's form for El Tri.

“The other thing was a question of rhythm: you're going to make mistakes, that's logical because you've stopped playing.” Borgetti explained.

“He is a role model player and it would be good for the national team and for Javier to have him at his best level because he could compete with anyone for this position.”
