The St. Louis Blues definitely needed to shake off the cobwebs of not playing a meaningful game in nearly six months.

But when they did, it turned into a season-opening win against the Seattle Kraken.

Jordan Kyrou scored two goals, Philip Broberg scored his first Blues goal in his first game and Jordan Binnington was especially sharp in the first half of the game, finishing the game with 30 saves as the Blues scored three goals in 1:55 and They were able to overcome a two-goal deficit and earn a 3-2 season-opening win against the Kraken on Tuesday at Climate Pledge Arena.

The Blues appeared to be dead in the water in the first half and certainly early in the second half as Seattle scored 1:53, save for former Blues defenders Vince Dunn and Eeli Tolvanen, to make it 2-0 Leadership went.

There just didn't seem to be much life in a Blues group that brought in six of its seven new players. They finally got the spark midway through the second minute after a goal was disallowed for offside, followed by a tussle between Nathan Walker and Dunn, followed by Alexey Toropchenko and Yanni Gourde at 9:01.

It energized the Blues before getting on the game's first power play, and Kyrou scored at 13:42 to pull the Blues within 2-1 when he got around Kraken defenseman Jamie Oleksiak and beat goalie Philipp Grubauer with a backhand.

The Blues seemed to get back on their feet, got into the zone and went to work before Broberg scored to make it 2-2 at 15:17 when Dylan Holloway, who also scored his first Blues point, passed the puck to Justin Faulk worked, who had two assists straight away, and he found his partner who ran into the left circle and Broberg beat Grubauer after Jake Neighbors' flyby may have distracted the Kraken goalkeeper, who was between the arm and the pad on the other side was hit.

And just 20 seconds later, it turned out to be the Blues record for fastest goals scored in a season opener:

Kyrou gave the Blues the lead, which turned out to be 3-2 for good when Alexandre Texier, also making his Blues debut, fired a great pass into Kyrou's path at 15:37 for the breakaway goal.

While the Blues sleepwalked throughout the game and the Kraken were actually faster and worked harder to score pucks, Binnington kept the Blues in the game, making a save from Oliver Björkstrand at 11:34 of the second period, just before the Blues began to score .

The Blues handled the game well in the third period, killing Seattle's only power play and holding the Kraken, who had no shot on goal in the final 11:50 minutes of the game, to four third-period shots after Seattle had 28 in the first two periods.
