Iowa football looks to bounce back in front of its home fans on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium after a tough road at Ohio State. FOX will televise the CT contest at 11:10 a.m.

The Hawkeyes (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten Conference) lost badly at Ohio State last week with a 35-7 score and reached an even record in the conference. Kirk Ferentz's team will now be tested against one of the new Big Ten teams for the first time, as Washington (4-2, 2-1) faces Iowa for the first time since the 1995 Sun Bowl. The Huskies are coming off a big home win against Michigan and will look to continue their momentum.

Live from Kinnick Stadium, the Register's Dargan Southard, Tyler Tachman and Chad Leistikow are on hand to cover the action this afternoon. Follow both and keep up with them here on Hawk Central's live blog for pre- to post-game updates, analysis and commentary.

12:51/4Q – Iowa 37, Washington 10.

Dayton Howard! A 33-yard TD pass from Cade McNamara puts Howard on the field. McNamara over 100 yards. Where is the running clock?

12:58/4Q – Washington with one last turnover on downs.

Hawkeyes take over at Huskies 33rd

14:56/4Q – Iowa 30, Washington 10.

Kaleb Johnson, who else? An 8-yard TD run caps a 61-yard scoring drive. The 21-year-old Johnson rushed for 166 yards and two scores. This one feels over.

END 3Q – Iowa 23, Washington 10.

Kaleb Johnson is closing in on 160 rushing yards as Iowa looks to thwart that one. When we come back, the Hawkeyes are in the Washington 8th.

4:25/3Q – Iowa's defense steps up again.

The Hawkeyes leave the field on fourth-and-long with Washington in an odd spot on the Iowa 39. Another touchdown could prevent this.

6:16/3Q – Washington is on the move again.

The Huskies quickly pass the midfield with big runs.

7:22/3Q – Iowa 23, Washington 10.

The Hawkeyes almost had disaster in the red zone after Brendan Sullivan was sacked for a botched snap. Sullivan tried to throw the ball out wide when he went to the ground, but fortunately for the Hawkeyes, Sullivan's knee was on the ground. Drew Stevens scores the 25-yard field goal.

10:46/3Q – The Hawkeyes have their first wide receiver graduation today.

Seth Anderson makes the 27-yard grab, then an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty is assessed. Iowa is looking for the end zone again.

11:41/3Q – Jermari Harris says hello.

Nice interception and runback right in front of the Iowa bench. After the 32-yard return, the Hawkeyes will take over midfield.

12:32/3Q – Xavier Nwankpa has just jogged back from the locker room.

Koen Entringer is currently safe.

3:00 p.m./3Q – Second half underway.

Huskies get the stone first.

HALF: Iowa 20, Washington 10.

Another huge run from Kaleb Johnson just as Iowa was trying to run out the clock. The Hawkeyes make another field goal attempt, which Drew Stevens shoots from 46 yards.

0:28/2Q – Iowa 17, Washington 10.

End-of-half controversy over Washington's field goal attempt. Grady Gross' 35-yard kick was initially deemed good, but even though the fans behind the post went wild, it wasn't good. It was ruled that the ball went over the post and was therefore not reviewable.

1:01/2Q – Washington comes right back.

Second and one from the Iowa 21 after the timeout. Will Rogers is analyzing the Hawkeyes' secondary quite well at the moment.

1:28/2Q – Iowa 17, Washington 7.

A nice call by Tim Lester on a third-down run by Brendan Sullivan sets the stage for a successful trip to the red zone. Cade McNamara to Kaleb Johnson for an 18-yard touchdown. McNamara's first TD pass since the opening game.

3:08/2Q – Hawkeyes trying to get back into the swing of things before halftime.

With a three-pointer and a decent Kaden Wejten return, Iowa is ahead at the Washington 37.

4:43/2Q – Iowa 10, Washington 7.

An uninspiring offensive performance after losing the ball, but Iowa takes the lead on Drew Stevens' short field goal. A four-play drive with zero yardage scoring.

6:10/2Q – Iowa's defense makes things happen.

Aaron Graves with the strip bag. Max Llewellyn with recovery. Hawkeyes lined up in the red zone.

7:16/2Q – Cade McNamara is sacked on third down.

An unsportsmanlike penalty on Logan Jones ruined that drive. A good punt from Rhys Dakin strengthens Washington, but the Hawkeyes defense needs a strong performance now.

9:19/2Q – All even in Kinnick.

Denzel Boston hauls in the 5-yard TD catch to put the Huskies on the field. The scoring drive covered 14 plays and 75 yards in 7:14. Iowa needs some defensive stability quickly.

10:15/2Q – Iowa will need another stand in the red zone.

Washington is knocking on the door.

13:24/2Q – Will Rogers with a big four-down conversion to keep the Washington drive alive.

Rogers scores 17 points on fourth-and-short midfield. The Hawkeyes' defense is showing some cracks again.

END 1Q – Iowa 7, Washington 0.

If there's a touchdown on the road, the Huskies will wave five. Iowa is back on defense when we return.

1:33/1Q – Iowa 7, Washington 0.

The Hawkeyes' beautiful response ends with a 6-yard TD run by Kaleb Johnson. Hawkeyes shoved it right down the Huskies' throats. Iowa is already approaching 70 rushing yards.

4:03/1Q – Iowa's ground game warms up.

Iowa only bullies Washington on the field.

5:57/1Q – We remain tied after Iowa's big draw in the red zone.

After forcing a short field goal attempt, Yahya Black blocks it to keep the game tied. Hawkeyes bent a lot on this trip but didn't break.

9:17/1Q – Washington on the move.

Huskies marched right across the Iowa field without much resistance. Hawkeyes uncharacteristically missed tackles as Washington is now in the red zone.

2:20 p.m./1Q – On-brand start for Iowa's offense.

Three-and-out, then a punt.

10:53am – It’s hot.

October is a volatile month in Iowa, and today is very hot. Not what you would expect from Halloween decorations in the city.

10:15 a.m. – Addison Ostrenga's injury isn't surprising, but it's still significant

Kirk Ferentz indicated earlier this week that Ostrenga would be out after leaving Ohio State. Look for Zac Ortwerth to play a bigger role.

9 a.m. – Iowa football releases injury report

Iowa football has a player not listed for Saturday's game against Washington on this week's Big Ten-mandated availability report, which is released two hours before kickoff.

Tight end Addison Ostrenga will not be available for the Hawkeyes today. This season, the junior has 11 catches for 63 yards and a score.
