Game updates, live scores in college football

The Vanderbilt football player scored a 57-yard field goal and took a halftime lead in Missouri.

Brock Taylor’s kick gave the Commodores (2-1) the lead midway through the game.

Missouri (3-0) is one of four opponents ranked in the top 10 in the US LBM Coaches Poll that Vanderbilt will face this season, but the Tigers are the only opponent playing on the road, as Alabama, Texas and Tennessee all have home games.

The Commodores must pull off at least one major upset to qualify for a bowl game for the first time in Clark Lea's tenure.

Second quarter

Khordae Sydnor sacked Missouri quarterback Brady Cook on fourth down with eight seconds left in the second quarter. A quick completion later set up Vanderbilt Taylor's 57-yard field goal and took the halftime lead.

After Missouri began its drive in Vanderbilt territory, it again got stuck in the red zone as Vanderbilt forced the field goal to tie the game.

After Randon Fontenette was tackled for a loss on third down in the red zone, Missouri scored a field goal off the post to secure possession of the ball in the empty red zone.

Vanderbilt stormed down the field, but the advance stalled after a sack by Pavia at the 10-yard line, forcing the Commodores to settle for a field goal.

First quarter

After a drive in which Missouri had no trouble moving the ball, Cook found top receiver Luther Burden for the 20-yard touchdown pass.

Diego Pavia escaped the pressure and made a rare deep throw that found the free Joseph McVay, who was running into the end zone. It was the first college catch for true freshman McVay, who had not played in a game before Saturday.
