Gameday lineup Patriots vs. Dolphins: Who will start for the Pats on Sunday?

The New England Patriots are back home for their fifth game of the season. Hosting the Miami Dolphins, they will look to end a three-game losing streak that has dropped them to 1-3 on the year and already find themselves in a challenging situation.

Sunday's game against a division rival is therefore an important benchmark for the team's future prospects. Here's what New England's gameday lineup looks like for the contest:

The first four weeks of the season were a struggle for the Patriots' offense, but the unit received some positive news before the game against Miami.

At wide receiver, Kendrick Bourne will make his debut after beginning the season on the physically unable to perform list; When he was sidelined with a torn ACL last October, he was New England's best pass catcher. His presence is good news, even if only in a limited way. Bourne is one of five active wideouts, with KJ Osborn out with an injury and Javon Baker a healthy scratch.

Defensively, the Patriots need to find a way to replace starting safeties Kyle Dugger and Jabrill Peppers. Both had to miss the game due to ankle and shoulder injuries, which put a strain on the team behind them. Jaylinn Hawkins and another recently activated player, Marte Mapu, saw longer snaps; The same goes for Dell Pettus and perhaps even Brenden Schooler or members of New England's cornerback group.

The Patriots will also start their fifth different offensive line in five games. With center David Andrews out this year with a shoulder problem, Nick Leverett will be in the starting lineup for the first time since joining the club in the offseason. Meanwhile, Vederian Lowe is expected to return as the starting left tackle.
