Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks on the injury report against the 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks will face off in their regular season opener on Wednesday night. Heading into the match, the Bucks have two All-Stars on the injury report in Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Middleton's status was clear earlier this week. Although Bucks head coach Doc Rivers wouldn't immediately rule out the forward, he did mention that Middleton would have to complete a five-on-five matchup before the opening game to be cleared to play.

Tuesday's practice came and went without Middleton's appearance in scrimmage action. As expected, Middleton was out for the opening game against the Sixers.

Antetokounmpo is suffering from right patella tendonitis. Although Giannis is on the Bucks' injury report, there is no danger of him missing the opener. The Bucks had listed the big star as “likely” to play. He has been confirmed to play against the Sixers on Wednesday.

Milwaukee has a big advantage Wednesday night with Giannis playing. On the other hand, the Sixers ruled out their big man Joel Embiid.

Much like Middleton, Embiid has paved his way back onto the court this year. Training camp came and went without Embiid participating in scrimmage action. The 76ers went through the preseason and decided to shut Embiid down for the entire run before he appeared on the court.

Ahead of Wednesday's opener, Embiid is eyeing a return. However, the Sixers will give him another break if he gets back into shape.

Even when playing against Embiid, Antetokounmpo had success against the Sixers. In 16 games, Antetokounmpo has averaged over 31 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.

In addition to Embiid, the Sixers will also be without injured All-Star forward Paul George on Wednesday night. The Sixers have gotten off to a rocky start this year, facing one of the NBA's top teams despite having a few stars behind them.
