The New York Giants are 2-4 this season and could be back in the market for a quarterback this offseason. Daniel Jones is on shaky ground and could be released in the offseason. Last offseason, the Giants attempted to sign a rookie quarterback to no avail. They could once again target a new signal-caller in 2025.

Giants draft Texas QB Quinn Ewers No. 12 overall in CBS Sports mock draft

In the latest mock draft published by Josh Edwards and CBS Sports, the Giants selected Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers with the No. 12 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft:

“Daniel Jones’ ups and downs as the starting quarterback continue. Does New York already have its answer? Quinn Ewers and Malik Nabers could be an exciting pairing for years to come.”

Edwards predicts that Big Blue will reshuffle the quarterback position and make Ewers Jones' successor. Ewers was the fourth quarterback taken off the field in this mock draft, followed by Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, Miami's Cam Ward and Georgia's Carson Beck.

Could Ewers be the Giants' next franchise quarterback?

Selecting the fourth quarterback in the draft class would be a controversial decision for the G-Men. However, Ewers has some tools and attributes that head coach Brian Daboll could potentially maximize. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Texas signal-caller is a three-year starter with plenty of experience, which is a good sign that he has the potential to step in and make an immediate impact at the next level.

This season, Ewers has thrown for 890 yards and nine touchdowns with three interceptions in three games while completing 72.2% of his passes. He missed some time due to injury, but was impressive when healthy.

Ewers is described by Keith Sanchez of the Draft Network as “a highly skilled QB who excels at making accurate throws with elite ball placement to allow his receivers to make plays.”

He may be a small project, but Daboll is the perfect man to turn a project into a superstar. If the Giants want to sign a quarterback next offseason, Ewers could be an option.
