Golden Knights sign PTO forward to a one-year deal

The Vegas Golden Knights have signed Tanner Pearson to a one-year contract after he completed a professional tryout throughout training camp.

Pearson's one-year contract calls for an AAV of $775,000. The 32-year-old played in four of the Golden Knights' five preseason games and scored two goals and three points. His size and speed fit well with the way the Golden Knights want to play. He is focused even without the puck and is a reliable two-way forward.

Pearson previously spent parts of 11 seasons in the NHL, totaling 644 games, with the Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks and Montreal Canadiens. The Kitchener, Ontario native played 54 games for the Canadiens last year, scoring five goals and 13 points.

The 1.90 m tall left-hander was a Stanley Cup winner with the Kings and was selected in the first round in 2012.

Pearson will provide the team with reliable defensive play and veteran experience for some of the younger players the Golden Knights add to their roster.
