We wonder what inspired the new look. Perhaps spending time on the Oklahoma farm with Blake Shelton has prompted Stefani to warm up her usual icy platinum mane. Maybe she wanted her hair to properly match her Battles outfit: a yellow floral sleeveless dress. Or maybe she just wanted a change!

Can Stefani's bright new 'do inspire Team Gwen's artists to shine when it matters most on stage? The Battles round is our first chance to find out, as each coach brings together two of their artists to perform an elimination duet on a single song. At the end of the day, one artist will stay while the other will unfortunately be sent away… unless another trainer takes advantage of their opportunity to steal and recruit a Battles eliminated artist into their own crew.

Stefani is a pro at the game at this point. “Man, I learned from the best,” she said of her time on the show, specifically referring to her early days when she took notes from veteran coaches like Adam Levine (who returns). The voice in Season 27. “It’s funny because it’s just so different than what we’re used to. But then you get into the other position of a coach, where you look back on your career and think, “Gosh, how?” did I'm doing this? Let me share this with you because maybe I can help you with that too. “It’s just super fulfilling… and weird.”

Now she is the person other coaches look to as a role model. As freshman coach Snoop Dogg said of his first days on the show, “My strategy was to watch, listen and learn.” As the oldest coach on the show, all rookies can learn something from Stefani.
