Hangout Music Festival replaced by Morgan Wallen's Sand in My Boots

The Hangout Music Festival, the long-running event held on the white sand beaches of Alabama's Gulf Shores, will not return in 2025. Instead, there will be a new festival called Sand in My Boots, co-produced by country superstar Morgan Wallen, and AEG will perform in their place.

Sand in My Boots will premiere May 16-18, 2025 and promises a “highly curated, multi-genre lineup featuring some of Wallen's closest friends, favorite artists, those who inspired him and those he always wanted to perform with.” Every artist, activity and experience is handpicked by Wallen, driven by his passion for sharing great music and creating memories with fans, friends, family and like-minded people.” Wallen is believed to be headlining the festival, but further details – including the Lineup and ticket details – to be announced.

As for Hangout Music Festival, the future of the brand remains unclear. Festival organizers will be involved with Morgan Wallen's Sand in My Boots and will “focus on providing the best possible experience for both fans and artists in 2025,” according to a representative.

Hangout debuted in 2010 with the lineup Zac Brown Band, John Legend and Trey Anastasio. Over the years, the festival team grew in popularity, attracting more than 40,000 attendees while welcoming acts such as Foo Fighters, OutKast, Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, and Mumford & Sons. The 2020 and 2021 editions were both canceled due to the pandemic, however Hangout was able to host successful events in both 2022 and 2023.
