Harris will meet with Baier for the first interview with Fox News

WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris will be interviewed by Fox News host Bret Baier in Pennsylvania on Wednesday as she ramps up her travel and conversations with media outlets in the final stages of the presidential campaign.

It will be her first meeting with the network and her first interview with a news outlet outside her ideological comfort zone since running for the Democratic nomination.

Harris has previously given interviews to CNN and CBS's “60 Minutes,” as well as fellow venues such as ABC's “The View” and Howard Stern's radio show.

Most interviews took place within the last two weeks. represent a shift from her decision to stop speaking to the media at the start of her election campaign.

The Fox News interview is scheduled to air Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET. Baier is Fox News' primary political host and one of the few prominent people on the network whose identity is not associated with conservative commentary.

After facing criticism for avoiding interviews early in her candidacy, Harris has sought to turn the tables on Republican nominee Donald Trump. On Sunday in Greenville, North Carolina, Harris criticized him for not releasing him his medical records and for declining a “60 Minutes” interview.

“You ask yourself: Why do his employees want him to hide?” she said. “You have to ask yourself: Are they afraid that people will see that he is too weak and unstable to lead America? Is that what’s going on?”

Trump attacked Harris and Fox News on social media on Monday, saying the network had “become so weak and soft on Democrats.”
