Harvey Weinstein Reportedly Diagnosed With Bone Marrow Cancer | Sexual Assault News

According to US media reports, the imprisoned Hollywood producer is being treated in prison for chronic myeloid leukemia.

Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been diagnosed with bone marrow cancer, media in the US reported.

Weinstein, who became the most notorious face of the #MeToo era after dozens of women accused him of sexual harassment and assault, is being treated in prison for chronic myeloid leukemia, NBC News and ABC News reported Monday, citing unnamed sources.

Chronic myeloid leukemia, also called chronic myeloid leukemia, is a type of cancer that begins in the blood-forming cells of the bone marrow and invades the blood, according to the American Cancer Society.

According to the organization, it accounts for about 15 percent of adult leukemia cases.

The reports come as Weinstein awaits a new trial in New York after an appeals court overturned his 2020 rape and sexual assault convictions.

The New York State Court of Appeals ruled 4-3 that the judge in the original case improperly allowed prosecutors to make allegations that were not part of the indictment.

Weinstein was not released from prison following the decision because he is also serving a 16-year sentence for rape and sexual assault in Los Angeles.

He is also being prosecuted over a more recent allegation that he sexually assaulted a woman at a Manhattan hotel in 2006.

The 72-year-old movie mogul pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in the case last month.

He has insisted that all sexual encounters in which he was involved were consensual.

Weinstein, whose production house Miramax released blockbusters like “Shakespeare in Love” and “Pulp Fiction,” has reportedly struggled with a variety of health problems since his incarceration.

He underwent emergency heart surgery last month to remove fluid from his lungs and heart, according to his representatives.

According to his representatives, the once-influential film executive was hospitalized in July for a number of illnesses, including COVID-19 and double pneumonia.
