Harvey Weinstein was diagnosed with colon cancer

Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been diagnosed with cancer, The Post has learned.

Weinstein, 72, who is awaiting a second trial on sex crimes charges, was diagnosed last month, sources said. It is unclear what his prognosis will be and what impact it will have on the legal proceedings against him.

A representative for the former producer initially denied the diagnosis when approached by The Post on Monday night, before condemning “speculation” about his health.

“Craig Rothfeld, Mr. Weinstein's authorized health representative in New York State, expresses his deep dismay at the speculation regarding Mr. Weinstein's health,” the representative said in a statement. “It is both worrying and unacceptable that such private and confidential health matters have become the subject of public discussion. Out of respect for Mr. Weinstein’s privacy, we will have no further comment.”

According to NBC News, which first broke the news, the cancer is believed to be chronic myeloid leukemia. Weinstein is being treated at Rikers, sources told the outlet.

Weinstein, once one of the top producers in the film business, fell from grace as the #MeToo movement around him gained traction and dozens of women came forward to accuse him of sexual assault.

Several actresses alleged that he retaliated against women who rejected his advances, often derailing their careers.

Weinstein was convicted in 2020 of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and third-degree rape.

He was sentenced to 23 years in prison, but his conviction was overturned on appeal in April.

He remains in prison while he appeals a separate 2022 conviction on three sexual assault charges. For this case he was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Weinstein, who underwent emergency heart surgery in September, is facing a retrial in the 2020 case and was recently hit with an additional charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct after prosecutors alleged he once forcibly performed oral sex in Lower Manhattan carried out on a woman's hotel room sometime between April 29, 2006 and May 6 of this year.

Harvey Weinstein pleaded not guilty to the new charges last month.
