  • As far as Halloween weather goes, you may be in for some trick-or-treating.
  • Showers are possible from the Great Lakes to the Mississippi Valley and parts of the Northwest.
  • Temperatures will be scary in the northwest while it will remain warm in the south.

Looking at the Halloween forecast might give some people a little fear.

While some lucky places have the perfect, crisp fall weather for trick-or-treating, others may be dodging showers or sweating through their costumes for the holidays.

Showers could thwart Halloween plans here: Parts of the Northwest could see rain and even snow in higher elevations next Thursday. But there's good news for trick-or-treaters: showers are expected to taper off during the evening hours.

A cold front will sweep across the central U.S. by mid- to late week, potentially bringing rain from the Great Lakes to the Mississippi Valley on Halloween.

But don't be alarmed just yet – there is still uncertainty about the timing of the front and which locations could see showers this evening.

Here the temperatures can complicate your costume plans: If you live in the Northwest, a winter coat is a good addition to your Halloween costume. Temperatures drop to over 40°C, making evening celebrations chilly.

On the other hand, parts of the Deep South and Southeast could sweat through their clothes during trick-or-treating time, as temperatures are expected to be above 70 degrees throughout the night.

Parts of the Northeast and Central US will be “pumpkin lucky” when it comes to temperatures this year. Pleasant to fresh autumn temperatures are expected for Halloween evening.

If your vacation forecast looks more like a trick than a treat, there's still time for change. Check back often to see how the forecast is shaping up before you head out for Halloween.

Remember, time is sweet! No matter what the weather is like in your area, we hope you enjoy a safe and spooky Halloween.
