“Home Edition” star Eduardo Xol dies after stabbing at the age of 58

Star of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Eduardo Xol died a week after the stabbing … TMZ has learned.

The Riverside County Coroner tells TMZ… Xol, a resident of Palm Springs, California, died at Desert Regional Medical Center on Thursday afternoon, September 19. Xol's mother also confirmed his death to TMZ.

His family told TMZ: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our beloved Eduardo Xol. As his family, we know his kindness touched the lives of so many. We ask that this kindness be reciprocated now so that our privacy is respected as we process our grief. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Eduardo's name to the Lupus Foundation of America as he spent so much of his life serving others.”

The television star was best known for his work on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” where he was part of the cast of the reality show's second season. Earlier in his career, he also appeared in several telenovelas, including “Acapulco, cuerpo y alma,” “Sentimientos Ajenos,” and “La Jaula de Oro.”

Xol's death came amid a police investigation into a recent stabbing – cops said they discovered the star in an apartment after he called authorities for help.

According to Palm Springs police, Xol had significant injuries when he was discovered… He had reportedly been stabbed, but police did not name the attacker.

According to police, Xol was in serious but stable condition when he was taken to a local hospital on September 10.

Richard Joseph GonzalesA 34-year-old man from Cathedral City, California, has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with Xol's stabbing attack and subsequent death.

Apparently, Gonzales came onto police radar after calling 911 the day Xol was discovered by police… Gonzales claimed to have been the victim of an attack the night before.

After further investigation, police concluded that Gonzales was a suspect in the stabbing… and took RG to the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio, a city not far from Palm Springs.

Gonzales is currently being held without bail as police have requested that murder charges be filed against him.

Xol was 58 years old at the time of his death. Memorial plans are not yet known, but friends have begun paying their respects on social media.

Xol's friend Richard Perez-Feria remembered him as a “talented, wonderful, passionate friend, brother, son and partner.”
