How cold will it get in New Orleans during the fall cold front? | Weather

The much-anticipated first real cold front of this fall is expected to finally reach the New Orleans metropolitan area on Tuesday evening, dropping temperatures by as much as 15 degrees and offering the chance to grab a sweater or, if we're lucky, maybe even a lamp to wear jacket.

After another warm but dry day with highs in the mid-80s on Tuesday, a “strong cold front” is expected to move through southeast Louisiana this night, according to the National Weather Service in New Orleans.

Wednesday is expected to be the first noticeably cool day, with highs around 70°C. Nighttime temperatures could drop to over 50°C in some areas.

“Overnight lows will be downright chilly,” National Weather Service forecasters said in a post on the social media platform X on Monday.

Residents on the North Shore, who are always lucky, are likely to experience some of the lowest temperatures in the area, with an overnight low of around 43 degrees forecast for Slidell on Wednesday evening.
