How Patriots' Jerod Mayo addressed Christian Barmore's incident with police

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo answered questions twice in the last 10 days about an incident involving a New England player and police.

Patriots star defensive tackle Christian Barmore was the focus of the second instance after he was involved in a traffic stop early Wednesday morning.

The police report states that during a traffic stop at 12:53 a.m. ET in Providence, Rhode Island, Barmore aggressively handed out paperwork and behaved toward police before leaving the scene in another vehicle.

Barmore claimed Providence police were racist during the traffic stop.

“We are aware of the situation,” Mayo told reporters at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday in a video provided by the team. “I had a conversation with him this morning. But like I said, at least for this time here with you, I just want to focus on Jacksonville.”

The incident in Barmore came about 10 days after Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers was arrested on three charges, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Peppers appeared in Quincy District Court last week and was placed on the commissioner's exempt list.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft vowed that Peppers would not remain with the team if the allegations against him proved true.

Barmore was hospitalized with blood clots during Patriots training camp and has not played in a game this season. He is eligible to be removed from the reserve/non-football injury list at any time.
