How to Watch and Participate – Church News

More than 17 million Latter-day Saints – as well as friends and co-workers of all faiths, denominations and backgrounds – are invited to watch, listen to or follow the biannual general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this weekend.

“General conference provides an opportunity to receive personal revelation as Church leaders provide counsel and direction from the Lord,” wrote the First Presidency—President Russell M. Nelson and his counselors, President Dallin H. Oaks and President Henry B. Eyring – in a Sept. 5 letter to general and local church leaders. “We encourage everyone to listen to the advice given, study it, think about it and put it into action.”

Below you will find information about the October 2024 General Conference schedule, how to attend in person, ways to watch or listen live, and ideas for preparation.

Attending a General Conference session in person

For the first time since 2019, the conference center will be at full capacity for general conference.

While several areas of Temple Square remain closed during renovations and remodeling, the renovated Church Office Building Plaza and the adjacent Main Street Plaza reopened earlier this year.

Conference sessions begin on Saturday at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Mountain Time and on Sunday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mountain Time. The sessions usually last around two hours. The Sunday morning session will be preceded by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square's weekly broadcast of “Music & the Spoken Word” at 9:30 a.m.

Participants should be at their seats 30 minutes before the meeting. Not all participants can be accommodated in the conference center parking lot. Ticket holders are therefore asked to carpool, use public transport and be aware of other parking options. The Church's general conference announcement notes that a general conference ticket doubles as a UTA pass for travel to or from the conference.

Anyone interested in reserving a seat should line up in front of the tabernacle 90 minutes before the meeting.
