After suffering a loss in the opening game of the series, the Tigers were able to pick up two wins thanks to some timely hits and strong pitching. After Tarik Skubal turned in another Cy Young-level performance in Game 2, Detroit's bullpen got going on Wednesday. Brant Hurter, Beau Brieske and the rest of the Tigers' bullpen were complemented by excellent defense and a few base hits from Riley Greene, Spencer Torkelson and Matt Vierling, allowing Detroit to earn a 3-0 victory, their first home playoff win of the year Teams for 11 years.

Neither Tiger nor Guardian had more than a single hit in the game as the Bengals were beaten 6-5 in Game 3.

Should Detroit win on Thursday, they would advance to the ALCS for the first time since 2013. A win for Cleveland would send the series back to Progressive Field on Sunday.
