I feel lucky: Auburn trades four-star QB Deuce Knight from Notre Dame

Auburn fans are excited Wednesday night as four-star quarterback Deuce Knight announces his commitment to Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers, transferring from Notre Dame.

Knight, who had been committed to Notre Dame for over a year, changed his decision to Auburn after flirting with the Tigers by visiting Auburn for three of the Tigers' first five games, most recently on September 28 for his official visit to Auburn the Tigers SEC game against Oklahoma.

Following his announcement, Knight spoke with Auburn Live's Jeffrey Lee to share his reasons for switching sides to Auburn. He says the potential to be a program-changing player made his decision.

“Coach (Hugh) Freeze believes we can both do something special on offense,” Knight said. “We’re both boys from Mississippi. He says I should come to Alabama and take over college football.”

Knight is a four-star rated quarterback out of George County High School (Mississippi). He is ranked No. 2 nationally among 2025 quarterbacks according to On3, 247Sports and ESPN and is the No. 2 overall recruit from the cycle out of Mississippi. With the addition of Knight to the 2025 selection, Auburn's 2025 football class is now ranked No. 4 by On3 metrics and No. 3 in the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
