“I was completely out of line,” the Alabama captain admitted after the game drama

Emotions were high in Nashville on Saturday following Vanderbilt's win over Alabama.

Near the end of Saturday's loss to Vanderbilt, Alabama defensive back Malachi Moore was visibly upset on the field.

After criticism of his actions on social media, Moore released a statement on Monday.

“I want to apologize to my teammates, our coaches, the fans, our alumni and my family for the way I conducted myself on Saturday. As a two-time captain and fifth-year player, I understand the standard we live up to at Alabama This season I will represent myself, this team and this university because it means something to me that ” “A” on my chest and I know that I will carry the responsibility of representing this program as well. I will do a better job in the future to maintain the Alabama standard and I will continue to work and improve and myself behaved first-class.”

Tide coach Kalen DeBoer said at his press conference Monday that Moore will not be suspended for his actions. Here's his full answer to the two-time team captain question.

“No, we did it. And I just want to say this about Malachi: He did everything by taking possession and taking possession of it. And pretty much immediately after the game until this morning, things that are all suggested by him but are also just part of our conversations.

“I want to make sure Bama fans know that this guy was rock solid and — along with others — was a critical, critical piece; There are a few others too – keeping things together since January. When a lot of people decided to leave, this guy stood his ground. This guy loves Alabama football. He works tirelessly out there on the football field every day. It's the passion I hope – I mean the question was asked about me and the passion and frustration. I mean, you saw that from him. And yes, there were some things he regretted and wished he probably hadn't done, yes. But he rose to the occasion and we handled it internally and are still dealing with it internally.

“And he’s a first-class guy. He is out in the community weekly. That's just part of him, he does things to give back and understands the platform he has. A lot of eyes are on our program, a lot of eyes are on him. And this guy plays hard for himself and his teammates, but this program means so much to him. And so it won't be right. It in no way makes it right what some of the actions were.

“But I just want people to also understand that he's been behind me and us since day one, and there comes a point where sometimes when things develop, you have to stand behind your man and understand him too that we all make mistakes and we just have to admit it. And that’s what we’re doing, and we’re going to keep going.”
