If the sad NFL refs think that's what beating up the passer is like, the league might as well abandon the tackle altogether

What's the point of tackling? This is football, right? I just have to play it safe here because this is called “roughing the passer.” There's no point in even trying to touch the quarterback with both hands. Just stand in his way and stand there like you would in U-8 football. I can't get over how bad this call is. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of bad decisions throughout the NFL week and every team's fans spend their time complaining. But this? This is as pathetic as it gets.

Oh, and it wasn't just a whatever punishment. It turned the game around. Gave the Jets 3 points because of this decision, although Aaron Rodgers can even say “tough decision”. The guy who got hit even thinks that's probably not it. If that's not a problem, I don't know what to tell you about these calls. It's not that we're shouting about not protecting the players. Anyone with sense knows that it's important to protect the stars and players – and that's why you play on Thursday nights, duh. But can we just watch football sometime? It's a violent sport, there will be hits that will get the hell out of my face, with 15 yard penalties for an automatic 1st down because a referee can't figure out what a tackle is.

In a world where it's impossible to get people to agree on anything, this is the first time I've seen all social media, and Troy Aikman and Joe Buck agree that this is so gentle, as possible.
