“Indiana Fever selects No. 8 in 2025 WNBA Draft”

INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time in eight years, the Indiana Fever won't have to wait to find out their draft position.

The 2025 WNBA Draft will be the first time since the 2018 Draft that the Fever will not be in the lottery, which will be held between the four teams that did not make the playoffs last season. Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas and Washington will participate in the lottery in 2025, with LA having the highest odds of the No. 1 pick at 44%. The odds for the No. 1 pick are based on teams' records over the last two seasons.

Indiana received the No. 1 pick in 2023 and 2024, selecting Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, respectively. Boston and Clark went on to win rookie of the year and helped the Fever to a playoff berth this season for the first time since 2016.

After the lottery teams, the draft takes place in reverse order.

There was one wrinkle in the 2025 draft: the Golden State expansion team. The WNBA announced Thursday before the finale that Golden State would be selected fifth in the college draft after its expansion draft in December – after lottery teams.

So with a sixth place finish in 2024, Indiana will officially settle for eighth place.

Currently, Indiana has no specifications (pick swap or traded pick) for its first-round pick in 2025. That could change by April if Indiana decides to make any trades.
