Is Klay Thompson playing tonight? Jazz at Mavericks update for October 10th

Klay Thompson's debut with the Dallas Mavericks was one of the most anticipated storylines of the preseason.

Thompson signed a three-year, $50 million contract with the Mavericks at the start of the offseason and fans can't wait to see him speak. He's eager to speak up and prove all the doubters from last season wrong, but fans didn't see him speak up in Dallas' first preseason game.

Thompson missed Monday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to a layoff and also did not participate in Sunday's Fan Jam. However, he came to warm up before the game against the Grizzlies and sat on the bench during the game.

Before Dallas' game against Memphis, Jason Kidd said that Thompson would likely play in Dallas' last three preseason games, and considering they only have three games including tonight, Thompson will be ready to play tonight against the Utah Jazz to compete. Kidd confirmed this in his pre-match press release and fans are excited for his debut.

He's fully healthy and the American Airlines Center will be rocking for Thompson's first game.

Mavs fans begged coach Luka Doncic to sign him during the Fan Jam, and the fan base has already shown him plenty of love since his time in Dallas. He is the largest free agency acquisition in franchise history, and his addition to the Mavericks system will be a huge help to Doncic and his company.

In desperate need of shooting after losing to the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals, the Mavs brought in the best shooter on the market in Thompson. He is excited to be a Maverick and desperately needed a fresh start. He lost some of his enjoyment of the game during his final season with the Golden State Warriors, and the fact that he's in a new organization should help him regain that comfort.

Mavs fans are excited about Thompson and tonight is the perfect opportunity for them to see him play alongside Kyrie Irving and Dereck Lively II. Irving also missed Monday night's game while resting, and Kidd said he will likely play in the final three preseason games, just like Thompson.

Lively II put on a show in Monday night's game against Memphis, showing off a new part of his game as he pushed the ball the length of the floor and scored at the rim. That was the highlight of the evening and he shows more and more in his game every day.

Lively II's departure from the short roll is one of the many reasons Thompson will fit into this starting lineup like a glove, and it will be wild to see Thompson play in another jersey (other than the Warriors) for the first time in his NBA -Career tonight against the Jazz.
