Is Patti Week's Biggest OTT Release Worth Watching?

Do Patti finally released on Netflix today and fans have started submitting their first reviews online. Directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi, the film marks Kriti Sanon's debut as a producer.

Featuring Kriti in the dual role of twin sisters Saumya and Shailee, Kajol as a police officer and Shaheer Sheikh as a spoiled businessman, the OTT release created quite a stir. However, it received mixed reviews upon its release.

Fans feel the issue is quite serious and Kanika Dhillon has come up with a storyline that respectfully deals with the serious issue of domestic violence. Still, the performances are over-the-top and the narrative feels predictable.

Many X users said that except Shaheer Sheikh, no one did justice to their screen time. Kajol and Kriti have exaggerated their roles, which were not written particularly deeply to begin with.

Although the plot is relevant, it lacks the nuance one would expect from a film focused on abuse and victimhood. Instead of foregrounding an organic narrative, fans feel like the performances were unnecessarily placed front and center.

Still, you can try it out as it is something worth discussing. It might not have been a missed opportunity if the direction had been less pretentious.
