The farewell couldn't have come at a better time for Washington football, especially after the lopsided Week 7 loss to Iowa.

After a weak 40-16 loss to the Hawkeyes in Week 7, the Huskies will look to regroup in Week 8 and recapture their early-season success as they prepare for a challenging five-game stretch to conclude the collegiate season. Football's 2024 prep season.

The Huskies' decisive loss to the Hawkeyes last week came a week after Jedd Fisch's team earned a top-10 home win against then-No. 10 Michigan, a win that resulted in a field rush at Husky Stadium.

Quarterback Will Rogers leads the Big Ten in passing yards through the first seven weeks with 1,820 yards, while he ranks third among the conference's 18 quarterbacks in passing touchdowns with 13. Rogers has recorded two games of 300 yards or more this season, both of which ended in losses to Washington State and Rutgers.

Is Washington playing football today?

No, Washington is not playing today as the Huskies are currently idle in Week 8 of the 2024 college football season.

Fisch's squad will be back in action next Saturday in Week 9 when they take on the steaming hot Indiana Hoosiers squad, which has risen to No. 18 in the USA LBM Coaches' Poll in recent weeks.

Washington's second-half schedule will certainly be challenging after halftime. After next week's trip to Bloomington, the Huskies return home to face USC on Nov. 2 before traveling to No. 3 Penn State on Nov. 9 for the Nittany Lions' annual White Out game.

Washington will close out the season with contests against two former Pac-12 rivals, UCLA on Nov. 15 and No. 2 Oregon on Nov. 30. ESPN Analytics predicts the Huskies will go 1-4 in their last five games, with their lone win coming against the Bruins.
