Jadeveon Clowney is out against the Falcons

The Carolina Panthers have to dig deep this afternoon.

As expected, outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney will not play for Sunday's divisional matchup against the visiting Atlanta Falcons. Clowney, who suffered a shoulder injury in the Week 5 loss to the Chicago Bears, did not participate in practice all week and was listed as doubtful for the contest.

To help at that position, the Panthers signed seventh-year pass rusher Marquis Haynes Sr. to the active roster on Saturday. After spending his first six seasons in Carolina, Haynes Sr. rejoined the organization on October 4 as a member of the practice squad.

In addition to Clowney, the Panthers will also be without three other starters in tight end Tommy Tremble, inside linebacker Josey Jewell and right tackle Taylor Moton, who will miss the very first game of his NFL career.

Here is the complete list of the Panthers' inactives in Week 6:

  • CB Shemar Bartholomew
  • OLB Jadeveon Clowney
  • LB Josey Jewell
  • G Jarrett Kingston
  • OT Taylor Moton
  • C Andrew Raym
  • TE Tommy Tremble

And for Atlanta:

  • LB Troy Andersen
  • DL Brandon Dorlus
  • OL Jovaughn Gwyn
  • RB Jase McClellan
  • OT Brandon Parker
  • D.L. Kentavius Street
  • OL Elijah Wilkinson
