Janet Jackson talks about the “beautiful influence” of her son Eissa on her life

Janet Jackson raved about the “wonderful influence” her son Eissa Al Mana had on her life.

“The most important, the greatest thing I've done is become a mother, and it's had a wonderful impact on my life,” Jackson, 58, said in an interview with about her 7-year-old son. The Guardian published on Saturday, September 21st.

“I wanted to have three children, but I thought, 'I should stop there, that's probably all I can do.' Because you have to give it your all,” she explained. “Of course you have to work, but you're not your first priority anymore. Life changes completely. And I wouldn't trade it for anything.”

Jackson made her TV debut in 1975 on The Carol Burnett Show where she sang a duet with her brother Cool. At the time, she was about the same age as her son is now, but Jackson was adamant that Eissa would have a “totally different” childhood than hers, “because I worked and he didn't. And that's all.”

“I want him to have the experience of being a kid because you can't do that again,” Jackson continued. “You're an adult for the rest of your life, so I want him to enjoy every single minute of being a kid.”

Jackson even revealed in August 2019 that she had not hired a nanny for Eissa since his birth in 2017. “It's hard being a working mother,” the singer said Stellar from the Daily Telegraph Magazine at the time. “I don't have a nanny, I do everything myself. Of course someone looks after him when I'm at work, but it's just me and my baby.”

In her interview with The GuardianJackson also spoke about the influence of her parents, Joe And LaToya Jacksoninfluenced her parenting style.

“You wish your parents had done some things differently, and you say, 'No, I'm going to tell (my son).' Because if they had done that with me, it would have been so much better for me as a kid,” the five-time Grammy winner explained. “I hated it as a kid, but now I'm grateful for it. I have to give credit to my parents for keeping me grounded.”

Jackson welcomed Eissa in January 2017 with her then-husband Wissam Al-Manabut the couple, who married in 2012, separated just three months after the birth of their son. “(She) felt hidden from family and friends,” a source said We weekly exclusively at the time of their relationship. “Janet felt like a prisoner.”

Over a year after their separation, Jackson raved in an interview with Billboard.
