Josh Gad deeply regrets lending his voice to Olaf in Frozen

Josh Gad has spoken about the “big mistake” he made when dubbing the character of the snowman Olaf in Frozen.

The 43-year-old actor lent his voice to the likeable sidekick in the successful Disney musical and later returned for the sequel. Frozen 2.

As a speaker at a fan convention (per The Hollywood Reporter), Gad admitted that he regretted giving the character a voice that was very close to his own natural speaking voice.

“If I could do it again, I would not have borrowed this snowman My voice,” he said. “I would have created a different voice.”

According to Gad, the resemblance led to children recognizing him in public by his voice alone.

“It's very strange to be in a supermarket and have a small child (turning his head and looking at you),” he said. That was my first big mistake.

“But you know, people tell me I have a very special voice. People seem to like my voice, so I try to give it to them when I can,” he added.

Two more Frozen films are currently in the works, in both of which Gad will once again take on the role of Olaf.

Earlier this year, Gad also confirmed that he was working with comedy icon Mel Brooks on a sequel to the 1987 science fiction parody. Space balls.

After news of Gad's involvement in the project broke, the actor wrote on Instagram: “My phone has never exploded as hard as it did today. We are very excited!”

Amazon MGM is developing the project with Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar Director Josh Greenbaum is set to direct, with writers Benji Sami and Dan Hernandez co-writing the screenplay with Gad and Kevin Salter executive producing the film.

Gad added, “It's still early days, but working with the legendary Mel Freaking Brooks and creating something worthy of this franchise and its legacy has been a dream come true.”

“(Benji Samit), (Dan Hernandez), (Josh Greenbaum), (Kevin Salter) and I pray at the altar of everything Brooks related and we, along with Mel, are doing everything in our power to make sure you get what you've been waiting for 37 long years. EVERYTHING.”
