After the former president Bill Clinton referred to the Republican Senate candidate from Arizona, Kari LakeDescribed as “physically attractive,” Lake responded to the comments at a rally in the state on Thursday. Clinton, who campaigned for Lake's opponent, Democrat Ruben Gallego, largely criticized Lake in his speech but stopped short of calling her “physically attractive.”

“I actually woke up this morning and found out that one of the better known Democrats was in town and his name is Bill Clinton…he actually complimented me,” Lake said. “He was here campaigning for Ruben Gallego, my cop-hating, open-borders, misogynist opponent. And Bill Clinton complimented me. He said I was physically attractive.”

“First of all, you know what? As a middle-aged woman, I’m flattered,” Lake continued. “I’m flattered, okay? I don't get compliments like that every day. Second, I thought I was a little too old for him. Does he not like interns?”

Lake then added, “Third, I am happily married to my husband Jeff, who is down here, the love of my life. And fourth, no one in their right mind wants to get in the way of Hillary Clinton. That’s just dangerous.”

What did Bill Clinton say?

Bill Clinton, the 78-year-old former Democratic president, was in Arizona on Wednesday to campaign for Ruben Gallego, the Democratic Senate candidate from Arizona and current representative of the state's House of Representatives.

In his speech, Clinton compared the race between Lake and Gallego to the presidential race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

“You have a person who grew up in sometimes challenging circumstances who made something of her life by running against someone who is physically attractive but believes that politics is a performance art and where, like JD Vance, must prostrate himself before the “master,” Clinton said.
