Kate Moss' appearance at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was the biggest talking point at the event's return, five years after its cancellation.

The lingerie brand's runway show was canceled after its 2018 edition drew low ratings and criticism that it was sexist, outdated and lacking in diversity.

The return took place on Tuesday in New York, where Moss, 50, made her debut at the event and her 22-year-old daughter Lila was also seen on the runway.

The show also featured musical performances from Blackpink's Cher, Tyla and Lisa.

Valentina Sampaio became the first transgender model to represent Victoria's Secret in 2019 and attended the show on Tuesday

The fashion show, launched in 1995, typically attracted millions of spectators and well-known artists such as Rihanna and Taylor Swift each year.

But ratings declined and the brand was plagued by controversy former marketing director Ed Razek's 2018 apology for his comments about why transgender and plus-size models weren't featured on the runway.

This year's comeback promised to “celebrate all women” and featured Brazilian model Valentina Sampaio, who became the first transgender model to represent Victoria's Secret in 2019.

There was also an appearance by another transgender model, Alex Consani.

Plus-sized models like Ashley Graham and Paloma Elsesser also walked the famous runway, but some viewed it as a symbolic gesture given the company's history.

While Kate Moss' appearance in a black lace dress and signature angel wings was unexpected, some familiar faces returned to the runway.

Gigi and Bella Hadid debuted a number of looks, including matching red lingerie, and fan favorites Barbara Palvin and Candice Swanepoel also dropped by.

Former America's Next Top Model host Tyra Banks, 50, appeared at the event for the first time since 2009.

Another model making her return was Adriana Lima, who left in 2018 before the show was canceled.

Reactions to this year's show were mixed Dani Maher from Harper's Bazaar Writing: “Were there any moments that were seared into my brain with similar urgency (as previous shows)? I’m not so sure.”

The event's executive producer, Janie Schaffer, emphasized the diversity of the event, saying there were 50 models from 25 different countries in attendance.

But Maher wrote that despite this, “the catwalk was still largely dominated by thin, conventionally attractive models.”

This was confirmed by Aiyana Ishmael, co-editor of Teen Voguewho wrote, “As I watched one skinny model after another walk the runway, I was catapulted straight into my childhood living room and saw women who didn't look like me setting a standard of beauty that most women will never achieve.” “
