Kerry Carpenter HR's Moneyball Edition for Tigers will make you smile

play

How can you not be romantic about baseball?

Those are, of course, the words of Brad Pitt when he portrayed legendary Oakland Athletics manager Billy Beane in the classic film “Moneyball.”

But if there had been talk on Monday about Kerry Carpenter's go-ahead home run in the ninth inning of Game 2 of the ALDS, you wouldn't have batted an eyelid.

Required reading: The Detroit Tigers' meteor ride continues because Kerry Carpenter had “the momentum of his life.”

Carpenter's home run had the makings of a Hollywood classic in real life. Ninth inning. Playoffs. Two hits. Two outs. Best closer in baseball on the mound in a tie game. Blast-off, no-doubt home run in a snap.

They were the moments that sports fans live for, and that's why the punch fits so well with Moneyball's climactic scene.

The “mlbonfox” TikTok account did an excellent job of stitching together Carpenter's tackle on Guardians reliever Emmanuel Clase with Scott Hatteberg's home run scene in “Moneyball” and even some audio from Tigers radio play-by-play announcer Dan Dickerson inserted.

The results were perfect.

If watching it doesn't give you goosebumps, you may not have romantic feelings for baseball.

The Moneyball original

This might not be that harsh for Tigers fans, but hey, you have to admit, it's pretty good too.
