KTIV viewers offer their condolences to Brad Pautsch

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – The entire community expressed condolences following the death of longtime KTIV Sports Director Brad Pautsch, who passed away on Saturday, October 19, at the age of 58.

Brad's coverage of local sports during his decades of broadcasting will be remembered and recognized by the community following his passing.

“Just learning about Brad Pautsch’s death really sucks. I last contacted Brad last winter and hate to hear that he is no longer with us. Hopefully he is pain free and at peace now. To his family from Erin Magel Chatham and me: The older we get and raise our own families in another part of the country, the more we appreciate how great we had it as young Siouxland athletes, authentically enthusiastic, fair and supportive voices who report on the formative years of our lives. When I think about some of the moments that make me most proud of the things we have accomplished in Sioux City (and USD), Brad's voice often comes to mind. That's a pretty powerful thing that you only really realize once it's gone. Brad did it right and I will always remember him fondly for that. God bless all his loved ones during this difficult time.”

“I extend my deepest condolences to your team and the Pautsch family. I remember watching his Sports Force for years, first as a student at Newell-Fonda and then as a teacher and coach at Lawton-Bronson. I'm currently a principal at Schaller-Crestland… and I heard you're looking for memories. I haven't worked with him recently and didn't know him as a Crestland alumni, but I have a wonderful memory of him when I was a speech coach at Lawton-Bronson. I contacted Brad in 2012 when the Lawton-Bronson speech team first wanted to create a television newscast for the competition. Looking for support for our sports department, Brad was kind enough to give us sports coverage tips, graphics ideas, and camera suggestions to get great shots. His guidance and time over the years have been a great asset in helping so many students grow in confidence in their communication skills and create their own newscasts. What a wonderful supporter of students not only in athletics but in other activities as well!”
