Landon Knack gave the Dodgers no chance

Heroes, zeroes and the full flash of the Mets' Game 2 victory over the Dodgers on Monday:

hero

Mark Vientos used the conscious walk as inspiration.

After seeing the Dodgers intentionally move Francisco Lindor to first base, the third baseman hit a grand slam that gave the Mets all the points they needed.

Zero

Ryan Brasier stopped the Dodgers' scoreless inning streak, but Landon Knack ended most of their hopes of stealing the game.

The Dodgers' expected reliever lasted just two innings, in which he allowed five runs, including the Vientos' grand slam.

Unsung hero

Phil Maton, Ryne Stanek and Edwin Diaz (right) went four consecutive innings in which no runs were charged to them, each inherited a jam and each navigated their way out.

Stat

The Dodgers' 1-for-5 hitters went 0-for-19 overall at the plate.

Sean Manaea and the Mets' bullpen either batted around (the group walked five times) or hit through (nine strikeouts) LA's best bats.

Quote
