Las Vegas tourists have a front row seat to the Tropicana implosion at the Nirvana Hotel

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – There are no public viewing areas for the Tropicana Hotel implosion scheduled for 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. As a result, viewers fight for a front row seat, with some booking hotel rooms with a view of the action.

Many hotels overlooking the Tropicana, including the MGM Grand, the Excalibur, the Mandalay Bay and the Nirvana, are sold out Tuesday night.

FOX5 spoke with a few tourists from Australia who said they didn't know about the implosion until they checked in on Monday, so the timing was a happy coincidence.

“When we checked in, our hotel concierge told us that there was going to be a building implosion tomorrow night, so we were just lucky that we would have a pretty clear view,” said Hannah Tarry, who was visiting Las Vegas Sydney.

Now they're lucky enough to have the rare opportunity to see the Tropicana implosion live, as many surrounding hotels are out of rooms for the night.

“Now that I know so many people came to see it, I feel even more eager to see it. Otherwise I would feel like I was missing out,” Tarry shared.

“I feel happy. We’re happy Australians,” said Jesse Ball, visiting Las Vegas from Sydney.

These visitors say they will watch the implosion from a party at the Nirvana Hotel.

FOX5 stopped by the Nirvana Hotel Monday night to confirm the details of this watch party, but the office was already closed.
