Latest news on Chargers WRs

Los Angeles Chargers wide receivers Quentin Johnston and rookie Ladd McConkey continue to appear on the injury report ahead of the team's Week 7 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Both wideouts suffered injuries in the Week 6 win against the Denver Broncos. McConkey suffered a head injury from which he eventually returned, while Johnston was sidelined with an ankle injury.

On Thursday, McConkey was limited on the injured list due to a hip injury. However, Johnston did not practice at all.

Unless something unexpected arises from the last two injury reports of the week (they run Thursday through Saturday before a Monday night game), McConkey will likely play against the Cardinals.

Things look murkier for Johnston, the team's first-round pick in 2023, who rushed for just 431 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie last season. In five games this year, he scored three times on 14 catches and showed promise even though Justin Herbert's passing attack took a step back under coordinator Greg Roman and head coach Jim Harbaugh.

If the sophomore can't play against the Cardinals, the Chargers will turn to players like Joshua Palmer and Simi Fehoko. At least the latter made a big catch against the Broncos in Week 6.

There are also ongoing reports that the Chargers have turned to the Jets to get Mike Williams back. DJ Chark just popped up on the injury report with a new issue, so there's likely no relief here either.
