Liam Payne's ex Maya Henry claimed he often predicted his death as a “manipulation tactic”.

Liam Payne's ex-fiancée Maya Henry claimed the late singer predicted his death just days before his tragic death on Wednesday aged 31.

The influencer, who dated the One Direction member from 2018 to 2022, opened up about his mental health struggle and the alleged abuse he inflicted on her on Monday's episode of The Internet Is Dead podcast.

“Since we broke up, he's always texted me saying, 'Oh, I'm not feeling well,'” she claimed. “He always played with death and said, 'Well, I'm going to die.' I'm not feeling well.'”

Henry, 23, described Payne's messages as a “manipulation tactic” to make her feel sorry for him even though they were not together.

“I tried to get him help once and he wouldn’t take it,” she continued. “He texted my mom, 'I'm not feeling well, ask Maya to contact me,' because I didn't respond.”

“It’s just the same cycle.”

In February 2024, the influencer announced her fictional book, Moving Forward, which was inspired by diary entries she wrote during her relationship with Payne.

At the time, the author claimed the “Steal My Girl” singer called her mother and said, “I won't be here much longer.”

“I don’t play with death,” Henry shared. “If you say that, I will try to help you no matter what you have done. I think he took advantage of my family’s kindness.”

Henry claimed that one of Payne's friends also called her and warned her not to publish the book out of consideration for Payne's mental health.

Henry claimed she offered Payne help getting back into rehab, but in the end she felt his actions were manipulative.

In the days before his death, Henry claimed that the British singer's behavior had “gotten so much worse,” although she was unable to legally clarify the details, which was likely due to the cease-and-desist letter she previously sent to her ex had sent month.

“He just kept saying, 'I'm so sorry for everything I've done.' I can’t live with myself but I keep trying to traumatize myself,” she claimed.

“I know the lifestyle he lives and there comes a day when something bad is going to happen, so I would always say, 'Okay, he's saying these things, I have to help him because if I don't, I will.' I win.' “I can’t live with myself if something happens to him,” Henry added.

The “Perfect” singer reportedly struggled with the legal issues between him and Henry – who claimed Payne wouldn't leave her alone – before he died in Argentina on Wednesday.

Payne fell from the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires and suffered “serious injuries.” Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.

The X Factor alum reportedly behaved “erratically” shortly before his death and slammed his laptop into the hotel lobby.

Payne, who has struggled with substance abuse and mental health, “has long struggled with periods of ruinous behavior,” insiders told Page Six.

The “Night Changes” singer arrived in Argentina with his girlfriend of two years, Kate Cassidy, on September 30 and the two spent a romantic few weeks together. However, Cassidy left the country a few days before his death.
