Lions DE Aidan Hutchinson came off the field with a broken tibia in the win over the Cowboys

Detroit Lions pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson was carted off the field after suffering a broken tibia in the third quarter of Sunday's win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Hutchinson was injured while sacking Dak Prescott. With the Cowboys quarterback in his grasp, Hutchinson's left leg slammed into teammate Alim McNeill, who was also chasing Prescott.

After the game, head coach Dan Campbell confirmed that Hutchinson had injured his shin and would remain in Texas for evaluation.

“Obviously he’s going to be out for a while,” Campbell said of the severity of Hutchinson’s injury.

The third-year defensive end lay on the turf in pain as the Lions' medical staff attended to him. His leg was placed in an air cast before he was carried off the field with assistance from players from both teams. Hutchinson was quickly ejected from the game after his exit.

At the time of Hutchinson's injury, the Lions held a 34-6 lead over the Cowboys.

Detroit won 47-9 and posted a 4-1 record after the bye week, but the celebration that followed that victory was dampened as the team seemingly lost its top defenseman to serious injury.

Hutchinson entered Week 6 as the league's best player (6.5) and is the heartbeat of the Lions' energetic defense. Since entering the league in 2021, the former No. 2 overall pick has been an absolute game-wrecker, racking up 27.5 sacks in 38 games played.

The 24-year-old began his 2024 season seemingly better than ever, highlighting his performance as a sack leader with a 4.5 sack game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.

The Lions hit the road in Week 7 to face the undefeated Minnesota Vikings in a crucial NFC North matchup.
