Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery suffered an injury in the first quarter against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7.

The star running back left the game and entered the blue medical tent on the Lions' sideline with an apparent knee injury.

Montgomery is in the midst of an outstanding 2024 season and his absence could result in a significant loss for the Lions' offense. He has scored a touchdown in six straight games since last postseason.

Here's the latest on the status of the Lions' running back:

David Montgomery returned to the game early in the second quarter with 11:22 on the clock. After he left the tent, he never went to the locker room again.

David Montgomery was sidelined with an injury with 4:33 left in the first quarter and the Lions trailed 10-0.

Montgomery received a handoff at the Lions' 39-yard line on third-and-1 and was tackled at the line of scrimmage for no gain.

According to the Fox broadcast, the Lions are talking about a knee injury.

The Lions have one of the best running back duos in the NFL. Montgomery split time with Jahmyr Gibbs. The second-year senior coming out of Alabama will be asked to step in if Montgomery misses extended playing time.
