It was a closely contested game between the two rivals as neither team had more than 100 yards. However, both quarterbacks were efficient. SDSU's Mark Gronowski completed 11-14 passes (79 percent) and NDSU's Cam Miller completed 9-15 passes (60 percent). Aside from SDSU QB Chase Mason's 66-yard score, rushing games were modest for both teams.

Last fall, South Dakota State dominated North Dakota State 33-16 in the Dakota Marker, winning four straight games in the rivalry and ending the Dakota Marker all-time streak at 10-10. The Jackrabbits are five straight games ahead of the Bisons when adding the 2022 national title game to the marker games.
