Macklemore will no longer perform at Neon City Fest

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (FOX5) – Neon City Fest announced some changes to its headliners Tuesday morning, although they were only announced last week.

In a statement, festival organizers said Macklemore would no longer be performing due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

They added: “We are excited to announce new artists joining the NCF lineup soon.”

Last Thursday, organizers held a unique ceremony to announce the festival's headliners on Fremont Street. In addition to Macklemore, Neon Trees, Seven Lions and Alison Wonderland were also announced as headliners.

The Neon City Festival, the first music, art and culinary event of its kind, takes place in downtown Las Vegas.

Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Haggerty, had previously caused controversy with his comments during his performance at the “Palestine Will Live Forever” concert in Seattle this weekend.

“Say it straight up. I'm not going to stop you. I'm not going to stop you,” Macklemore told the crowd. “Yeah, screw America.”

It is unclear what the crowd was chanting before his applauded comments.

FOX5 has reached out to organizers for more details about the cancellation but has not yet received a response.

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
