Two professional sports teams distanced themselves from rapper Macklemore after he shouted “F— America!” at concertgoers at a pro-Palestinian event in Seattle.

Macklemore is part of the ownership group of the Seattle Kraken of the NHL and the Seattle Sounders FC of the MLS. Both teams released a joint statement regarding Macklemore's comments.

“We believe that sports brings people together and unites us. We are aware of Macklemore's increasingly polarizing comments and they do not reflect the values of our respective ownership groups, leagues or organizations,” the teams said Monday via KOMO News.

He joined the Sounders ownership group in August 2019 and was part of the Kraken ownership group in April 2022.

“We are currently reviewing our joint options on this matter,” the statement continued.

Macklemore performed at the “Palestine Will Live Forever Festival”.

“Say it straight out. I'm not going to stop you. I'm not going to stop you,” Macklemore said, apparently referring to the crowd's chants.

“Yeah, F— America,” the Grammy winner said, causing the crowd to cheer. The video was shared by journalist Cam Higby on X.

He said proceeds from the event, held at the Seward Park Amphitheater, would go to various groups, including the controversial United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

Israeli officials have stated that UNRWA is closely linked to Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The UN itself announced in August that nine UNRWA staff members would be dismissed for possible involvement in the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

Maher Joudi, the organizer of the event, told The South Seattle Emerald that the event was solely to support the Palestinians.

“The only thing I want to get across to everyone here is – everything we do in this area, we do 1,000% for Palestine,” he told the newspaper. “It's in service to Palestine and those who are fighting every day. We do what we can on that side. And I think as long as we design and direct all of our work to serve them, then we're doing the job.”

Macklemore released an anti-Israel song in May called “Hind's Hall,” which refers to the Columbia University building that was occupied by students and renamed in honor of a 6-year-old Palestinian girl killed in the Israel-Gaza war. The song praised the anti-Israel encampments and protests on college campuses across the country and called out President Biden, police and the music industry.

The rapper released a second version of the song this month, in which he now denounces Vice President Kamala Harris, who became the Democratic presidential candidate in July after Biden withdrew from the race.

Nearly a year has passed since Hamas terrorists invaded Israel, killing, raping and taking hundreds of people hostage. This sparked Israel's ongoing war in the region, and a ceasefire seems nowhere in sight.

As of Tuesday, 101 hostages were still being held in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he believed about half were still alive.
