Man wanted for murder in Texas was arrested in northern Iowa

POMEROY, Iowa (KEYC) – A man was arrested Sunday in northern Iowa after admitting to being on the run for more than two years in connection with the murder of his brother in Texas.

This is what the man who has been living with him for over a week says.

Kyle Coolack has been wanted since March 11, 2022 for the murder of his brother in Texas. Houston Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

It wasn't until Sunday morning that Coolack admitted to Eddy Mason of Pomeroy, Iowa, that he was not the man he said he was when Mason picked him up with a “Veteran Needs Work” sign.

Mason says Mason has provided Coolack with work, housing and food for the past week and even planned to watch football on Sunday.

“I was woken up this morning by the news that I had to get my roommate out of the house, he was a murderer on the run. Yes, I shot my brother.”

Coolack confessed his true identity to Mason and Mason told him to leave.

He then contacted the Sheriff's Department and said police caught Coolack walking down the street and he was taken into custody.

He is currently being held in the Carroll County Jail. Further details and delivery plans have not been announced at this time.
